Kefalonia Villas & Apartment Rentals

Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands. The scenery is mountainous and beautiful and the island offers a rich biodiversity, including several rare species. For this reason parts of the island have been declared an EU Natura 2000 site. Over 200 bird species have been spotted here.

The island is a beach paradise, offering beautiful bays with golden sand and turquoise water, including the famous Myrtos Beach. One of the most popular features on Kefalonia is the Melissani Lake, or Cave as it is sometimes known. Open to the sky, the cave features a beautiful sky-blue lake and is a regular visit by tourists on the island.

The largest town on the island is Argostoli, an attractive port city and home to approximately one-third of the island’s population. The town houses many interesting and historic buildings and there are several lovely Kefalonia villas on offer in Argostoli and in the second largest town, Lixouri, and the surrounding areas.

Kefalonia is well known for its olive oil, one of the main products of the island. The oil has a green tone and is rich and greasy with a low acidity. The olive oil is used in much of the delicious cuisine of Kefalonia and is also a popular export.

Summers on the island are hot with July and August having especially high temperatures and August is the best month for swimming. Staying in villas in Kefalonia is comfortable most of the year, with the exceptions being December, when most of the rain falls on the island and January, known to be the coldest month.
